Mechanical Division

Mechanical Division
The Mechanical Division is a fully equipped Designated Inspection Facility responsible for all maintenance and overhaul of the city owned fleet to include all light duty, heavy duty construction equipment, firefighting apparatus, the B.C. Transit bus fleet and the Williams Lake Airport grounds and runway equipment.

The airport equipment is maintained at a satellite shop located onsite at the Williams Lake Airport.

All equipment is licensed and equipped for safe operation and maintained in compliance with the Commercial Vehicle Inspection Program, Motor Vehicle Act and Workers Compensation Board.

Light duty equipment would include various parks and recreation maintenance and mowing equipment, pickups, one tons, arena ice maintenance equipment and asphalt maintenance equipment.

Heavy duty equipment would include dump trucks, backhoes, loaders, graders, street sweepers, ice and snow removal equipment, fire engines and transit buses.



Communities in Bloom Water Truck

Complete welding and fabrication services are also provided for the fleet and all other city departments.

Completed projects of honourable mention include memorial benches, communities in bloom plant hangers, heritage signs, river valley park benches and gates, parks department mini dump trucks, tilt trailers, asphalt recycling unit and communities in bloom water truck.



Purchases
New vehicles and heavy equipment are purchased by the tender or quotation process. Specifications for the equipment to be purchased are prepared by the Manager of the Mechanical Division with input from division managers and user groups.
