Equipment Operator I Temporary - Competition13-11
OPERATIONS:Municipal Services Department � Streets Division
CURRENT RATE OF PAY: $27.43 per hour
HOURS OF WORK:40 hours per week, as per the Collective Agreement. Shift work as required.
POSITION: Union Affiliation
GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES:
The incumbent is responsible for carrying out instructions as required within the Streets Division of the Municipal Services Department.
SUPERVISION:
The incumbent is responsible to the Director of Municipal Services under the direction of the Streets Foreman and/or designate.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
�Manual labour in construction, repair and maintenance within the Streets Division.
�Shall work within the safety guidelines as established by the City.
�Shall respond to call-out for emergency maintenance and repair work at short notice and work in inclement weather conditions.
�Shall be required to work shift work as scheduled and overtime as required.
�Responsible for ensuring safe work practices used on the job site and assisting in the development of safer and more efficient methods of work.
�Other duties as may be assigned to assist with the City's day to day operations.
QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:
�Minimum Grade XII or equivalent.
�Shall possess a valid B.C. Driver's Licence - Class 5 with Air Endorsement.

�Shall be proficient and safely operate the following equipment within the Streets Division:
osingle axle truck
owater truck
osnow clearing sidewalk machine
olight duty truck
osmall power/hand tools
�Equipment exempt from this position:

o anti-icing truck

o street sweeper

�Shall be capable of understanding, reporting verbally and by written report in English and accept and comprehend verbal instructions.
�Shall undertake additional training in the correct operation of other equipment and to upgrade skills and abilities.
�Shall have the ability to work with others as a team.

FITTNESS INSTRUCTOR I

TITLE: Fitness Instructor I
DEPARTMENT: Community Services Department
HOURS OF WORK: Variable hours. Shift work as required.
RATE OF PAY: Fitness Instructor I $19.34 per hour
POSITION: Union Affiliation
GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES:
The incumbent shall instruct a variety fitness classes offered at the Cariboo Memorial Complex.
SUPERVISION:
Responsible to the Manager of Active Living and under the direction of the Recreation Coordinator.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
� Instruct a variety of fitness classes at the Cariboo Memorial Complex.
� Apply effective public relations techniques.
� Maintain personal fitness level appropriate for instruction.
� Perform safe, challenging programs.
� Performs other related duties as required.
QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:
� Minimum Grade XII education.
� Current BCRPA Fitness Registration.
� Current CPR C.
� Ability to instruct 45-90 minute classes.
� Minimum of one of the following courses with intention of completing all four:
o BCRPA Fitness Leader � Aquatic Fitness
o BCRPA Fitness Leader � Weight Training
o BCRPA Fitness Leader � Group Fitness
o BCRPA Fitness Leader � Third Age
� Self motivated.
� Knowledgeable in all aspects of fitness first aid.
� Shall have initiative and desire to undertake additional training to upgrade own skills and abilities.
� Fitness courses from other agencies such as Can Fit Pro, YMCA, YWCA and other recognized agencies will also be considered.
