CURRENT RATE OF PAY:$17.65 per hour plus 15% in lieu of benefits
HOURS OF WORK: 2 20 hours per week, shift work and weekends as required
DUTIES:
Responsible to the Manager of Active Living, under the direction of the Aquatics Coordinator, the incumbent is required to observe and exercise control over the activities of the public and patrons in supervised swimming areas of the aquatic facility, rescuing bathers in distress, administering resuscitation or first aid as required. The position will also include cleaning and disinfecting aquatic facilities.
SKILLS, ABILITIES AND QUALFICATIONS:
Minimum 17 years of age, and previous life guarding and instructing experience. Shall possess the following current certificates:
Life Saving National Lifeguard Service Award (Pool Option)
CPR Level C or CPR Instructor
Recognized First Aid Certification
Thorough knowledge of lifesaving, water safety, resuscitation, first aid and pool lifeguarding policies, procedures and techniques.

TITLE:Skate Patrol
DEPARTMENT:Recreation Services
CURRENT RATE OF PAY: $15.97 per hour plus 15% in lieu of benefits
HOURS OF WORK: 2 hour minimum shifts, shift work and weekends as required
DUTIES:
The incumbent shall be responsible for supervising public ice skating sessions in a safe manner.
SKILLS, ABILITIES AND QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum 16 years of age
Knowledgeable of facility emergency procedures
Demonstrated skating ability
Ability to deal with the public in a polite and courteous manner
Red Cross Standard First Aid would be an asset, but is not required
Current CPR C required

RATE OF PAY:Fitness Instructor I $18.77 per hour, plus 15% in lieu of benefits
Fitness Instructor II $ 21.13 per hour, plus 15% in lieu of benefits
GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES:
The incumbent shall instruct a variety of Fitness classes that may include: Aquafit, Group Fitness, Weight Training, Personal Training, Third Age, Osteofit and/or Yoga classes. The incumbent is responsible to the Manager of Active Living under the direction of the Recreation Coordinator.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Instruct all fitness classes assigned at the Cariboo Memorial Complex and/or other Joint Use facilities.
Apply effective public relations techniques.
Maintain personal fitness level appropriate for instruction.
Perform a safe, challenging program.
Shall perform other related duties as required.
QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:
Current BCRPA Registration
Current CPR C
Ability to instruct 45 90 minute classes
Initiative to undertake additional training to upgrade skills
Minimum of three of the following courses:
BCRPA Fitness Leader Aquatic Fitness
BCRPA Fitness Leader Group Fitness
BCRPA Fitness Leader Yoga Fitness
BCRPA Fitness Leader Personal Training
BCRPA Fitness Leader Weight Training
BCRPA itness Leader Osteofit
BCRPA Fitness Leader Third Age
Fitness Courses from other agencies such as Can Fit Pro, YMCA, YWCA and other recognized agencies will also be considered.

HOURS OF WORK: Up to 37.5 hours per week, shift work and weekends as required
DUTIES:
The incumbent is required to perform skilled life guarding work of a variable nature. Work involves observing and exercising control over the activities of the public and patrons in supervised swimming areas at the aquatic facility; rescuing bathers in distress; administering resuscitation or first aid as required; teaching and evaluating a variety of water safety, lifesaving and specialized aquatic instructional programs, cleaning and disinfecting aquatic facilities and monitoring and adjusting water treatment equipment, as more particularly described in the Job Description for the position.
QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:
Minimum 17 years of age, previous life guarding and instructing experience, must meet Provincial Health Act requirements under Swimming Pool Regulation for lifeguards.
Shall possess the following current certificates:
X Life Saving National Lifeguard Service Award (Pool Option)
X Red Cross Swim Instructor
X CPR Level C or CPR Instructor
X Recognized First Aid Certification
In addition, the incumbent must have a thorough knowledge of lifesaving, water safety, resuscitation, first aid and pool lifeguarding policies, procedures and techniques and a working knowledge of aquatic facility janitorial practices and procedures.
