UPDATE ON SUCCESS OF PARADISE CINEMAS COVID-19 DROP-IN CLINICS
Williams Lake resident Massimo Calabrese provided Council with an update on Interior Health Authority's drop-in vaccination clinics being held at Paradise Cinemas.
Along with noting the clinics are responsible for the vaccination of roughly eight per cent of the current eligible population in Williams Lake, Calabrese proposed Mayor and Council encourage residents to participate in the COVID-19 vaccination program.
In a letter to Council, Calabrese says during the last four clinics held at Paradise Cinemas, an average of 150 doses of the COVID-19 vaccination have been administered over a four-hour period, with roughly a 50 per cent split between first and second doses.
CJ's SOUTHWESTERN GRILL APPLICATION FOR LOUNGE ENDORSEMENT
Council supported an application from CJ's Southwestern Grill on Third Avenue South to add an Entertainment Endorsement License, and to advise the Liquor and Cannabis Regulation Branch be advised of several considerations including establishment location, hours of operation, impact of noise in the immediate vicinity, impact on the community, food primary license, and views of residents.
BUSINESS FACADE IMPROVEMENT PROGRAM
Council endorsed an application to the 2022 Northern Development Initiative Trust (NDIT) Business Facade Improvement Program in the amount of $20,000.
DRIED BULK HIGHWAY SALT- AWARD OF TENDER
Council awarded a contract for the supply of dried bulk highway salt for the 2021/22 winter season to Chances Bulk Unloading Ltd. for the tendered price of $169 per metric tonne, excluding applicable taxes.
CITY TO PURCHASE NEW2021 FOUR CYLINDERSUV/MPV/CROSSOVER
Council approved the purchase of a 2021 Ford Escape from Lake City Ford Sales Ltd. for the purchase price of$39,118.44. The new vehicles will replace a 2011 Dodge Dakota pickup truck. The replacement SUV will be used by all departments throughout the City.
CITY TO RAISE METIS FLAGFOR LOUIS RIEL DAY
Council received a letter from the Cariboo Chilcotin Metis Association and authorized the raising of the national Metis flag on the City's flagpole in honour ofLouis Riel on November 16, 2021 for Louis Riel Day.
REMEMBRANCE DAYCEREMONIES AND POPPYSALES
Council approved the Poppy Campaign sale days from October 29, 2021 to November 11, 2021, and will work with the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 139 in Williams Lake to ensure the parking lot is barricaded at City Hall during the small Remembrance Day ceremony at the Cenotaph on November 11, 2021. Due to COVID-19pandemic restrictions, no public will be allowed to attend.
In addition, Council approved the use of the City Hall lobby for accumulation of wreaths and crosses before and after the Cenotaph ceremony, as well as authorized the Legion flag to be displayed on the City's flagpole for the week of November 4 to November 11.
