Recreation complex to undertake solar panel project

At its Tuesday, July 4 Regular Meeting, Council received an update on the Cariboo Memorial Recreation Complex's solar panel project.

Awarded to a single bidder, Hakai Energy Solutions Inc., plans including placing two solar panels on the roof - one above the pool and another above the ice arenas - along with a monitoring screen in the lobby for viewing savings and impacts of the system.

In a report to Council, Director of Community Services Stacey Miranda noted the project will achieve both economic and environmental benefits.

The total cost of the project is $471,975, including taxes.

Council awards multiple contracts and purchases including LED street light upgrades

Council approved the following contracts, purchases and requests for proposals and quotes:

Airport Lease Renewal

Council approved a proposed airport lease agreement with Roger and Allison Patenaude for a 20-year term, effective September 1, 2023, at a lease rate of $1,987.62, for 943 square metres for an aircraft hangar.

Half Ton Pick-up Truck

Council awarded the purchase of a 2023 half ton four door 4x4 pick-up truck to Transcan Leasing Corp. for $72,426.31.

LED Street Lighting Upgrades

Council awarded a contract for street lighting upgrades to Cosa Electric for the cost of $114,568.31. A remaining $35,431.69 from the budget will be used to upgrade existing City parking lot lighting to LED lighting. 

CCTV Cleaning and Camera 

Council awarded a contract for CCTV camera inspection and cleaning of City sewers to Northern Lights Technology Ltd. for the price of $153,216.

Ride-on Asphalt Roller and Compactor

Council approved the purchase of a 2023 ride-on asphalt roller and compactor from Finning Canada for the cost of $92,400 including taxes.

Jackpine and Lagoons South Channel Armouring Tender Award

Council awarded the Jackpine and Lagoons South Channel Armouring contract in the Williams Lake River Valley to Quality Excavating and Construction for a tendered amount of $1,122,365.

The total cost of the project is $1,621,101.50 including contingency and engineering.

Council thrilled with success of Stampede weekend

Council thanked everyone who helped make the 95th Annual Williams Lake Stampede such a positive and successful event.
